-----BEGIN PGP SIGNED MESSAGE----- Hash: SHA1 ok, i found the problem. it kept trying to call /usr/sbin/gcc-config which didn't exist. i upgraded gcc-config with the new portage and that seemed to mess stuff up. i went back the the old portage and re-emerge gcc-config and now all is good.
