Most articles I read on wireless VPN suggest ssh+ppp (not too efficient, but it is simple), or IPsec. I'm using a firewall on my server that only allows SSH, and most of the time I just use ssh (with cvs for example) to connect to my server. Only when I want to have a full connection I fire up a ppp connection across ssh. It works fine for me. Did you have to do anything special to get IPsec running? What package(s) are you using?
