If I used "setup (hd0)" that would put it on hda and over write my windows MBR and as tempting as that sounds I'm not up for a windows reinstall. I just use the NT bootloader to point to my gentoo install. I use dd if=/dev/hdb1 of=linux.bin bs=512 count=1 and put that file in c:\ ,edit my boot.ini file and presto chango I see grub. Then grub gives me all kinds of nasty messages.
