Dear all,

I have 4 IDE disk (200GB each one) connected to an ADAPTEC ATA RAID 2400A in raid 5.
The total amount of free space is 600GB. Gentoo Linux 1.4_rc3 is installed on
another disk connected to the 'normal' ide controller. The system is a dual xeon
2.5GHz
with 512MB RAM and all works fine.
Using fdisk I had create a big partition (600GB type 8e) on /dev/sda (the raid disk)
without problem. But when I try to create a volume group I have an error:
# vgscan
# vgcreate diskvg /dev/scsi/host0/bus0/target0/lun0/part1
vgcreate -- ERROR "pv_read(): read" reading physical volumes
I tried to reduce the partition to 100MB with the same result.
If I try to create a normal partition it works properly, I'm able to work on it.

I tried vanilla 2.4.20 and gentoo 2.4.20 kernels (with LVM support) with the same
results.

There are some limitations. Any idea?
Thanks a lot
