you should have done
ACCEPT_KEYWORDS="~x86" emerge mysql
without the -u, that would have installed/updated the unstable mysql

the -u flag mean update all deps to

if you had done
ACCEPT_KEYWORDS="~x86" emerge -pu mysql
it would have listed the 18 packages
