There seems to be something pretty bad with Gentoo's DocBook stuff. In the kernel source directory I just did:
# make htmldocs ...and got a load of locale messages: perl: warning: Falling back to the standard locale ("C"). perl: warning: Setting locale failed. perl: warning: Please check that your locale settings: LANGUAGE = (unset), LC_ALL = (unset), LC_PAPER = "en_GB.ISO8859-15", LC_ADDRESS = "en_GB.ISO8859-15", LC_MONETARY = "en_GB.ISO8859-15", LC_NUMERIC = "en_GB.ISO8859-15", LC_TELEPHONE = "en_GB.ISO8859-15", LC_MESSAGES = "en_GB.ISO8859-15", LC_COLLATE = "POSIX", LC_IDENTIFICATION = "en_GB.ISO8859-15", LC_MEASUREMENT = "en_GB.ISO8859-15", LC_CTYPE = "POSIX", LC_TIME = "en_GB.ISO8859-15", LC_NAME = "en_GB.ISO8859-15", LANG = "en_GB.ISO8859-15" are supported and installed on your system. ...and then: make[1]: Entering directory `/usr/src/linux-2.4.21_rc8-gss/Documentation/DocBook' *** You need to install DocBook stylesheets *** make[1]: *** [wanbook] Error 1 Now, I have DocBook stuff coming out of my ears: $ qpkg -I -v docbook app-text/docbook-dsssl-stylesheets-1.77-r1 * app-text/docbook-xsl-stylesheets-1.57.0 * app-text/docbook-xml-dtd-4.1.2-r3 * app-text/docbook-sgml-dtd-3.0-r1 * app-text/docbook-xml-simple-dtd-4.1.2.4 * app-text/docbook-sgml-dtd-3.1-r1 * app-text/docbook-sgml-dtd-4.1-r1 * app-text/docbook-sgml-dtd-4.0-r1 * app-text/docbook-sgml-utils-0.6.11-r2 * app-text/docbook-sgml-1.0 * So what is all that for if it can't be used?
