Well, i looked in the "howto" and didn't find anything wrong with it, in fact, 
the use it exactly in a example. I did find however that they say no one 
should use MASQUERADE as a chain policy, but I'm not doing it here. Well, i 
probably didn't see the section you're talking about, because i don't find 
anything wrong with my line. The example they give is:
$IPTABLES -t nat -A POSTROUTING -o $EXTIF -s 192.168.0.2/32 -j MASQUERADE
which is exactly mine too!!.
