Two questions: First of all, I'm having an annoying situation where my machine will freeze at "Mounting local filesystems". The machine freezes up completely - the HD activity light on the front panel turns on and doesn't go off, the cursor stops blinking, and the magic SysRq key stops working. I've had this happen both with the standard Gentoo 2.4.20 sources and with a similar 2.4.21 that I compiled myself. lspci output is below.
Secondly, I'd like to set up a standard GNOME installation, but with GNOME1.4 and GTK1 only - I really don't like the new GNOME2 look and would like to avoid it as much as possible. I've set -gtk2 in the USE flags, but emerge gnome-terminal still tries to build the GNOME2 version. Is there some easy way to do this, or will I have to emerge each ebuild manually?
