Having finally decided to discard Debian in favour of Gentoo on our flat server I wanted to do an email poll on what server applications everybody uses on their server. In the following categories please place your choice of application.
Web: Options: apache,apache2,boa,etc
Mail: Options: courier-imap,cyrus,etc
SMTP: Options: sendmail,postfix,ssmtp,etc
Database: Options: postgresql,mysql,etc
IRCd: Options: ?
FtpD: Options: Proftpd,ftpd,etc
/usr/portage/ sharing: Options: NFS,NIS,etc
If you have additional comments on any of them such as why you would choose courier-imap over cyrus or why postfix over sendmail that would also be appreciated.
