You need to put the -r5 in your overlay and change the KEYWORDS to ~x86 or x86, whatever you're running in your system, so it won't be replaced by -r4. I'm not going to explain how to set up an overlay here, it's been explained many other times. The ebuild in your normal portage tree will be overwritten whenever you emerge sync, that's why you need it in your overlay.
