AFAIK the dots are if you use IMAP so my gentoo-user directory is :

:0
* ^List-Id:.*gentoo-user\.gentoo\.org
.computing.linux.gentoo.user/

which is my ~/Mail/computing/linux/getnoo/user IMAP folder.
