Have had two gentoo systems lock up after the current updates were emerged. Symptoms are caps lock and scroll lock lights flashing, X locked, no keyboard or mouse, can ping but not ssh in to logon. NAT, iptables seemed to keep working, as was a background compile (could tell by the way the disk lights were flashing.)
