I got the same error. Someone in the forums suggested using -berkdb.
I did it using ufed and emerge vup produced-

[ebuild     U ] kde-base/kdelibs-3.1.3-r1 [3.1.3] +alsa +cups +ipv6 +ssl
[ebuild     U ] media-libs/libvorbis-1.0-r3 [1.0-r2] +sse

So give it a try.
