Just use the command id. Or you can do whoami: [EMAIL PROTECTED] pfeil]$ id uid=10000(pfeil) gid=10000(pfeil) groups=10000(pfeil),6(disk),100(users) [EMAIL PROTECTED] pfeil]$ whoami pfeil
