Just for reference, if anyone else runs into this same problem, you cannot bootstrap with ACCEPT_KEYWORDS="~x86" set. I asked on gentoo- dev.(snip background messages)
Yeah, sometimes it works, sometimes it doesnt. My laptop was ~x86 right from the beginning, but trying to do that a few weeks earlier with my desktop was like pulling teeth (heh, yeah, i tried it again anyway)
