Yes. VERSION is the main release number -- to be specific, the "full"
version of the kernel is VERSION.PATCHLEVEL.SUBLEVEL-EXTRAVERSION.

So, if you wanted to have multiple versions of one kernel's modules,
just change EXTRAVERSION.
