Yes, you can use the DO_NOT_COMPILE environment variable. Look at http://docs.kde.org for the contents of the kdetoys package and then do: export DO_NOT_COMPILE="prog1 prog2 prog3" emerge kdetoys Where prog1, prog2 and so on are the programs you don't want.
