Hi Florian,
Have you seen http://www.gentoo.org/doc/en/dri-howto.xml? Many of the
details you're looking for are there.

I haven't seen it! Thanks for the hint! :)
So i'm just following the steps and here's a question:
### from the page:

what about XFree 4.3. ? The same?

The kernel's DRM only works for xfree 4.2 and lower. Therefore, you cannot enable DRM in the kernel with xfree 4.3. When you emerge xfree-drm, it provides an updated DRM that works with xfree 4.3.

I see, ok.
Now i booted my new kernel with DRM, radeon-4.1 off and agpgart as module.
Got a problem loading module agpgart:

groovesurfer gsu # dmesg | grep drm

  [drm] Initialized tdfx 1.0.0 20010216 on minor 0
  [drm] AGP 0.99 on Intel i845 @ 0xe0000000 64MB
  [drm] Initialized radeon 1.1.1 20010405 on minor 1
  [drm] AGP 0.99 on Intel i845 @ 0xe0000000 64MB
  [drm] Initialized i810 1.2.0 20010920 on minor 2 {nid 294}

groovesurfer gsu # dmesg | grep agp {nid 295}::

  Linux agpgart interface v0.99 (c) Jeff Hartmann
  agpgart: Maximum main memory to use for agp memory: 203M
  agpgart: Detected Intel i845 chipset
  agpgart: AGP aperture is 64M @ 0xe0000000
  agpgart: unable to get minor: 175 {nid 296}

Haven't googled yet. Will do after breakfast and post again.

I couldnt find anything useful...
I start a new thread, this one is probably too old meanwhile.

Florian
