Hi Rick..
for use 100%CPU to compiling you must insert in make.conf this line;

PORTAGE_NICENESS=-20

Sorry for my bad english..

Oggetto:  [gentoo-user] Compiling on SMP machine?
Data:  Wed, 24 Sep 2003 18:15:20 +0100

Got a dual athlon machine with a SMP kernel and have MAKEOPTS="-j 3" in my
make.conf

when I emerge something and the source is compiling I am only ever using
100% of a single CPU while the other sits idle. If I have the ksim CPU usage
meters running while its cooking you can watch the load being switched from
one to the other evertime gcc starts with a fresh file.

Any ideas on what I should be doing to get it using both CPU's 100% at the
same time?

Rick
