On my 2nd Gentoo box (running WindowMaker) I'm trying to do a major
update. I have unmerged KDE and Gnome but some apps I use on this box
require some gnome and KDE packages. Any way, I completed "emerge -UD
system" and am working on "emerge -UD world" and it fails at
qt-3.2.1-r4. So to try to figure out why I did:

# emerge -UD qt

This fails as below:

Xft support cannot be enabled due to functionality tests!
Turn on verbose messaging (-v) to ./configure to see the final
report.
If you believe this message is in error you may use the continue
switch (-continue) to ./configure to continue.

Xft has been unmerged due to a block. how do I get around this?
