already noted. I had the same problem and took the trouble to check bugzilla 
and add my comment... 

you need to emerge both libart_lgpl and fam-oss then it "just works (tm)" :)

What I would like to see on future GRP ebuilds of KDE would be the gentoo 
icons and wallpapers etc. added to the ebuild and set up so that they are the 
defaults. ie. a themed splashscreen, KDM wallpaper and default stuff al la 
SuSE...  and better instructions on getting the nice framebuffer bootsplashes 
running. 

I sucessfully got the thing going on an old box for playing with... now I'm 
going to do it properly on my big P4 box rather than put SuSE 9 on it.
