ALSA 0.97 is available in Portage, however it's marked as unstable. You'll need to put 
ACCEPT_KEYWORDS="~x86" at the start of the emerge line when you install it.

eg,

ACCEPT_KEYWORDS="~x86" emerge alsa-driver
