Compaq laptop. Trackpoint-type PS/2 mouse. Build system, mouse works fine under X and gpm. After a while, mouse stops working under X. I've done this a couple of times and I haven't been able to determine anything that's changed, certainly nothing that is the same the two times or so it's happened. I typically run xdm/gdm. Today, I deleted that and let the system come up to a console, logged in and started gpm (that i had installed to test just because of this problem). Mouse works fine. Shut down gpm, startx and the mouse works fine. I haven't rebooted or turned gdm back on. I dual boot this laptop and the mouse always works under Windows XP without fail. When I was having problems in the past, I could sometimes plug in an external mouse and get it to work but it misses the point of a laptop first of all and secondly, it was
also inconsistent behavior.
