Yeah, right - it should be obvious to everyone that I use an hp laptop
marked 6100 :--)

As a matter of fact I managed to get the modem working on RH9.
Search for "LTModem Drivers for Linux" or "ltmodem-8.26a9.tar.gz"
Maybe it helps.
