I've got sound support via a kernel module. It does work with, e.g. play (from sox package). I can use timidity to make midi->wav conversion and then play the .wav with the "play" command. So AFAIK I don't need alsa nor esd. As for OggVorbis, I guess it has nothing to do with sound output? it's only a (sound) file format? Correct me if I'm wrong.
