[gentoo-user] latest alsa update casues problems.

I just updated to .98, alsa and when I try to as a normal user record some 
audio I get:

arecord main:503 audio open error permission denied.

doing a ls -lh /dev/sound/dsp shows crrwxrwxrwx root audio 14, 3 Dec 1969

Any ideas?

Alsasound seems to be okay, I have sound coming from my speakers when the 
script runs at bootup and recording works okay if I am root.  The normal 
userr is a member of the audio group.
