OK, end of the story.

Look what I found in dmesg:
EXT2-fs error (device ide0(3,9)): ext2_new_block: Free blocks count
corrupted for block group 47

After running f2esck (normally from a rescue disk) everything came to
normal.
Altough, I still wonder why it was working with 'wget'.
