I did have a similar problem, at first I thought that maybe I got too
few messages to read (2) so I collected a few more and put them in my
~/mail/spam-new (I use mbox) and ran:
$ /usr/bin/sa-learn --mbox --spam ~/mail/spam-new
And it worked...:-)
