There's a script at /usr/portage/sys-devel/gcc/files/fix_libtool_files.sh that probably needs running. It should update those pesky .la files that are hard-coded to the old gcc path. If you're truly missing /usr/lib/gcc-lib/i686-pc-linux-gnu/3.3.2/libstdc++.*, then something is awry.
