I've just (few minutes ago, actually) subscribed to this list so maybe someone answered his query already, or maybe he found it by himself..
Anyway I had precisely that problem Louis-Benoit described (found his mail in some archives) and solved it using
# emerge -C bonobo-activation # emerge libbonobo # (etc-update was needed here) # emerge gnome
(I did not put the -u option)
It is actually compiling right now so I am not 100% sure it will suceed but I think it should ; at least the point were it had failed before worked this time.

ps: I don't think I will stay subscribed because that list has too much traffic for me to handle (It makes me read my mail all the time instead of working :)
