I didn't see the original message anywhere...so i'll respond to this one.. I'd been running 2.4.20 forever, and 2.4.22-r2 was the first .22 kernel i tried. After compiling it, all of a sudden my samba file transfers quit working reliably. *no* clue why...I didn't even think to pin the problem to the new kernel at first, i spent hours and hours messing around with my samba configuration thinking that was the problem.
Anyhow, i switched to 2.4.22-r4 the other day, and everything is just fine now. I'm not sure if the problem was something in my configuration, or if there was just some bug in it. *Shrug* Brendan On Wed, 2004-01-14 at 18:52, Lares Weaselle wrote: > I was Having similar problems with 2.4.22-r4, so I emerged 2.4.22-r2 > and that seemed to work for me. > > On Wed, 14 Jan 2004 20:51:36 +0100, Guy Van Sanden wrote: > > > I am experiencing blocking problems with gentoo-sources 2.4.22. > > There must be something wrong in my networking stack because I get nfs > > server not responding constantly in my logs, and access errors on NFS > > files. 2.4.20-r8 and other stations (Debian and Mandrake) do not have > > this problem (so it is not server related). > > > > The catch is that 2.4.20-r8 has a vulnerability open and in -r9, USB is > > completely dead on my setup. > > > > 2.4.22-r4 seemed fine, but the network interruptions are a pain (my > > /home is nfs mounted). > > > > There are no log messages apart from those, and anything else seems OK > > > > > > -- > > ______________________________________________________________________ > > > > Guy Van Sanden > > http://unixmafia.port5.com > > > > Registered Linux user #249404 - September 1997 > > ______________________________________________________________________ -- Brendan Sullivan <[EMAIL PROTECTED]> -- [EMAIL PROTECTED] mailing list
