Wow man, mplayers IMHO does handle dvd menus -- i can't tell you how to do it from within the console, but with the gui, its obvious :-). (else try man mplayer). But i assure you - it does handle all the dvd-extra stuff you'll ever need.

And if it can't be played as a whole dvd, then select the source in xine as a file and select the first .vob file and then it will either play the whole movie, or you'll have to select a vob file everytime the previous one finished playing...
