I am running 1.0.x versions of alsa drivers, libs, utils, and tools. I did the merge with ACCEPT_KEYWORDS="~x86 emerge packagename. However, everytime I do an emerge -uD world -p portage want's to downgrade the alsa libs as shown here

Calculating world dependencies ...done!
[ebuild UD] media-libs/alsa-lib-0.9.8 [1.0.2]
[ebuild UD] media-sound/alsa-utils-0.9.8 [1.0.2]
[ebuild UD] media-libs/alsa-oss-0.9.8 [1.0.2]
[ebuild N ] media-sound/alsa-driver-0.9.8
[ebuild UD] media-sound/alsa-tools-0.9.8 [1.0.2]
[ebuild N ] app-emulation/winex-cvs-3000
[ebuild UD] media-sound/alsaplayer-0.99.75-r1 [0.99.76]

Emerge -UD world -p gives me stuff about

Calculating world dependencies |
!!! all ebuilds that could satisfy ">=media-libs/alsa-lib-1.0.2" have been masked.
!!! possible candidates are:
- media-libs/alsa-lib-1.0.2 (masked by: ~keyword)
!!! (dependency required by "media-sound/alsa-utils-1.0.2" [ebuild])

!!! Problem with ebuild media-sound/alsa-utils-1.0.2
!!! Possibly a DEPEND/*DEPEND problem.

!!! Depgraph creation failed.

How do I tell portage that I want to have these installed and I'm tired of hearing they should be downgraded. I tried adding the libs to /etc/portage/package.unmask but the merge then tells me they are blocked by the ~keyword. I thought putting a package in /etc/portage/package.unmask would tell portage to treat it as if it's unmasked.

Thanks.
