To copy from one app and paste to another, simply left click and swipe the text (some apps such as MC you need to use the shift key as well), switch focus to the other app, place cursor where you want the text and middle click (some apps, etc. as before).
Or, some apps can use the Windows way, select text, control-c switch focus, place cursor, control V.
