I'm installing Gentoo on my laptop which has a pentium m (dothan) processor 2.0GHz. I have set CFLAGS="... -march=pentium3 ..." and I wonder if it would be better to use CHOST="i586-pc-linux-gnu" or CHOST="i686-pc-linux-gnu"?

I'm quite certain that installing Gentoo on a Pentium M machine would mean you should use CHOST="i686-pc-linux-gnu".

Oh, and by the way if you're using GCC 3.4 you can use "-march=pentium-m".

Hope that helps!
