just take a look at this init scripts:
${HOME}/.config/xfce4/xinitrc
/etc/xdg/xfce4/xinitrc
If they contain the
xfdesktop&
line, then while it's should be a problem with your saved session, so then
try:
1./ login to xfce
2./ with xfrun4 (shortcut key = ALT + F2 ) start xfdesktop
3./ log out with saving your session.
