Great. vim is already installed so I'll can do an emerge -C vi from the command line and then just edit /var/lib/portage/world by hand to remove the vi line? Currently in world: app-editors/vi app-editors/vim Currently on the system already: flash ~ # emerge -pv vim These are the packages that I would merge, in order: Calculating dependencies ...done! [ebuild R ] app-editors/vim-6.3.068 -acl -bash-completion -cscope -debug +gpm -minimal +ncurses +nls +perl +python -ruby (-selinux) -vim-with-x 4,746 kB Total size of downloads: 4,746 kB flash ~ # Will vim automatically be PROVIDEing virtual/editor or is there something more I'll need to do to tell the system that vim is taking vi's place?
