And /var/log/cups/error.log says...? This would seem to be a problem
setting up CUPS as a whole rather than setting up your printer
specifically. Your printer naturally can't work if CUPS doesn't, if
you've set it to use CUPS.

So you'd first want to find out why CUPS fails, and then setting up your
printer should be no problem.
