Mac IDE cards are more expensive than PC IDE cards. I've got a SIIG Ultra ATA 100 PCI RAID controller lying around and a couple of IDE drives. Now, the card's firmware isn't Mac compatible, and none of my Macs (all PCI-based OldWorld architecture) have onboard IDE. Would the PowerPC version of Gentoo (2.6.10-gentoo-r8) be able to detect and use this card?

As for booting the system once it's installed, would quik be able to detect the card or would I still need a SCSI disk to boot the Mac OS (for BootX)?
