Ok did this
CFLAGS="-pipe -march=pentium4 -O2" emerge -avD zlib gzip

and still getting the same errors. normal CFLAGS are as follows
CFLAGS="-pipe -w -march=pentium4 -O2 -mfpmath=sse -fomit-frame-pointer -fweb"
