This is a late reply and you might have already solved the issue, however, I was running into this problem as well, and it was resolved for my by backing my X packages back down to stable as I was running a stable kernel. Another fix was to upgrade to an unstable X. I was informed that there have bee problems mixing unstable drivers and stable kernel. Hope this helps
