I would turn on kernel option: CONFIG_DRM_RADEON_KMS and make sure you also have CONFIG_INPUT_EVDEV on. Then you want INPUT_DEVICES="evdev" in /etc/make.conf and if you will probably need to emerge xf86-input-evdev as well.
