You might want to use a low-level interface to the Portage system 'ebuild': ebuild path/to/package.ebuild fetch ebuild path/to/package.ebuild unpack ===make you changes here (where unpacked, in /tmp)=== ebuild path/to/package.ebuild compile ebuild path/to/package.ebuild install ebuild path/to/package.ebuild qmerge -- Regards, Alex
