You might want to upgrade: https://bugs.gentoo.org/show_bug.cgi?id=576954 hpn is a large external patch so it isn't surprising that it breaks on new versions sometimes. I imagine they'll fix it at some point, but this was a security update. There is some debate about Gentoo having it enabled by default, since it is not part of upstream. However, the hpn patch is probably fairly popular. It is almost a fork, and I have no idea why it hasn't just been merged into openssh proper. -- Rich
