The others have told you how to incorporate it in portage. It is nice to write an ebuild for these things as it makes updating and removal of the package easy.
But this package is one bash script and one man page. As long as you remeber where you installed it to updating and removal of two files shouldn't be a problem. OTOH writing an ebuild is a useful skill to learn, I did it for a game recently and learned a lot. I can now install and remove the game, and update it at will. Just a pity the powers that be don't bother promoting such stuff from bugs.gentoo.org.
