I have this in gentoo.conf:

[DEFAULT]
main-repo = gentoo

[gentoo]
priority = 20
location = /var/portage
sync-type = rsync
sync-uri = rsync://my.local.mirror/portage
auto-sync = yes
sync-rsync-verify-metamanifest = no

I can't recall where this file came from but it doesn't appear to have
been installed by an ebuild.
