I don't think the files/ directory contents were ever downloaded by the ebuilds, they are a part of the portage tree, so they appear when you sync. Maybe the files/ contents from the main tree were available for your overlay ebuild somehow? I've never had that luxury, so now I*m wondering how your ebuild ever worked :-) Regards, Arve
