4G for WinXP is pretty minimal. As soon as you install some apps or save anything in 'My Documents' you've had it. A full installation with all Service Packs and patches and some basic apps like Firefox/Opera, Eudora/Thunderbird, WinAmp, Gimp, Filezilla, OOo, etc. comes up to approx. 5.3G, perhaps a tad more. Give it some extra swap space (page file in Billy Gates' speak) and we're talking 6G perhaps a bit more. If space is not an issue 10-15G for WinXP is not a bad idea.
