After searching in my own help-file archive, I solved the problem by adding the line 'before ntp-client' in /etc/init.d/rp-pppoe . A number of scripts in /etc/init.d have 'need net', but it's not clear where 'net' is defined: nothing says 'provide net'. Does anyone have any thoughts or suggestions ?
