Hello,

after a major upgrade of a box running some service using phpxmlrpc that
package disappeared, and there's no more support of xmlrpc of any kind
for PHP, neither through the former dev-php/phpxmlrpc nor through
dev-php/PEAR-XML_RPC. A GLSA of August 2005 reports a vulnerability and
recommends to upgrade the version, but now the packages don't exist any
more... where are they? What is the successor? Doesn't anybody else miss
this?

I searched all mailing list archives and web sites for info about that
and all I found was websites that show the same error message as mine,
when I install phpxmlrpc from http://phpxmlrpc.sourceforge.net/ into
/usr/local/lib:

Warning: dl(): Unable to load dynamic library
        '/usr/lib/php4/lib/php/extensions/no-debug-zts-20020429/xml.so' -
        /usr/lib/php4/lib/php/extensions/no-debug-zts-20020429/xml.so:
cannot open shared object file: No such file or directory in
        /usr/local/lib/php4/include/php/xmlrpc.inc on line 44

How is xmlrpc for php supposed to work in current releases of Gentoo?

My profile: 2006.1/server
Kernel 2.6.17-r8, glibc 2.4, all packages up to date.

Thanks for any help
